Red Hose Race 2008 (22 June)
Each year a race is run at
Carnwath and the local Laird Angus Lockhart of the Lee, must provide a pair of red stockings as
the prize. This year is a special year for Carnwath and its surroundings…
The famous Red Hose Race is 500 years old and it has previously been recognized to be the oldest
road race in the world (see World Guinness Book of Records 2006).

The Hebridean Challenge (29 June - 4 July)
The Hebridean Challenge is
one of the toughest and most demanding adventure races in the world and takes place in the Outer
Hebrides. Over 5 days competing teams travel the length of the islands from Vatersay in the
south to Lewis in the north with sections of hill running, road running, road and mountain
biking, sea swimming and sea kayaking.
